That has happened in my environment too. The best thing is to do is to stop that crawl and restart full crawl again. That normally fixes the issue. If not , index reset can be done but during index reset  search will not return any value until full crawl of each content sources is finished.

Hi Gayam,

Quick troubleshooting tips:

1. Try resetting IIS for good measure and see if the error surfaces

2. Stop and start the crawl - by this you can check if the crawling fails after restart

3. Verify if any services that are running relating to IIS are using valid usernames and passwords (check if any passwords are changed recently)

4 Reset the index only if the indexed contents are small or if your content DB is small -  this will avoid re-indexing your contents from the first. This can be the last option if nothing wor

I was experiencing issues too with my crawling some time ago and what helped me to sort this out was actually a SPC 2014 session from Brian Pendergrass and Jon Waite on troubleshooting Search. The video is available on Channel 9 and gives a great overview on what can go wrong and if it happens, where you need to look.

Here's the video: https://channel9.msdn.com/Events/SharePoint-Conference/2014/SPC375

They discuss the issue of crawls which appear to be stuck around the 9 minute mark in the video. Go check it out. It really helped me identify my issue.
